Oganes Karapetowitsch Dawtjan ( Armenian Հովհաննես Կարապետի Խանոյան , in English-language publications OK Davtyan, born April 15, 1911 in Armenia ; † December 1, 1990 in Yerevan ) was a scientist from Armenia who carried out research in Moscow and Odessa , particularly on fuel cells , and published the first book on fuel cells in 1947.

From 1935, Dawtjan worked at the Moscow Oil and Gas Institute . In the 1940s he worked on solid oxide fuel cells and examined various oxide mixtures for this purpose. In 1944 he received his doctorate with a thesis on fuel cells. He examined both high-temperature cells and alkaline fuel cells that operated at room temperature.

In 1947 he published a monograph, the first book on fuel cells. Dawtjan later led a working group at the National University in Odessa , Ukraine , where he did research not only on fuel cells, but also on batteries and other topics, e.g. B. electrocatalysis or quantum chemistry . He published over 500 publications.
