The Gubkin University of Oil and Gas or Russian State University of Oil and Gas "IM Gubkin" ( Russian Российский государственный университет нефти и газа имени И. М. Губкина is) any State University in Moscow and the leading university in the country in the field the energy industry and energy technology . The focus of the scientific work is on production technologies , research, extraction and processing of crude oil and gas .
history
In 1920, on the initiative of Professor Ivan Mikhailovich Gubkins, a chair in petroleum was opened in the Moscow Mining Academy and began to train engineers in this field. The first geologists completed their training in 1924. Chairs for oil exploration, drilling and exploitation, chemistry and technology were subsequently created . In 1929 the petroleum faculty was divided into the departments of geology and exploration, and petroleum processing and production. In order to be able to supply the rapidly growing oil industry with well-trained cadres, the Moscow Oil Institute was founded in 1930 on the basis of the oil faculty of the academy and given the name Gubkins. During the Second World War , many employees and students volunteered for the Red Army and helped defend Moscow . The institute continued to work during this time.
In the post-war period, scientific research and development work encompassed the entire spectrum of the energy sector. This period brought about a great number of discoveries. Always oriented towards the needs of industry, the institute had the following faculties: geology, oil and gas development, chemical engineering and economics . In 1962 the industry demanded specialists for the automation of industrial processes and the new Faculty of Automation and Computer Science was created. This was followed by the faculty for pipeline network planning, construction and operation. In 1988 the new training course for environmental technology was started and in 1991 for law in the field of the petroleum sector of the national economy.
