Oh! Calcutta! (Revue)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Oh! Calcutta! was a long-played, highly erotic revue written by British theater critic Kenneth Tynan and released as an off-Broadway play in 1969.

In most of the revue's scenes - written by Samuel Beckett ( Breath ), John Lennon and Jules Feiffer , among others - the ensemble (including Bill Macy ) appeared nude. Peter Schickele (also known as PDQ Bach ) was one of the three composers in the revue.

A Broadway version (1976) was performed for 13 years, making it the longest-running play on Broadway for a short time. The title is a paronomasia on "O quel cul t'as" and stands for "What kind of ass you have" in French .
