Bill Macy (born May 18, 1922 in Revere , Massachusetts as Wolf Martin Garber , † October 17, 2019 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American actor .

life and career

After Macy first worked as a taxi driver, he managed to get his first roles on New York's Broadway in the late 1950s . First television roles followed in the 1960s, for example in the soap opera The Edge of Night . Macy became known for his role as Walter Findlay, husband of the main character played by Bea Arthur in the American sitcom Maude . In the 2006 comedy Love Doesn't Have a Vacation , he starred opposite Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet . Macy continued to act well into old age and was last seen in 2010 in the Hawthorne series.

Macy was married to actress Samantha Harper from 1975 . He died on October 17, 2019 at the age of 97.
