Ōhasama ( Japanese 大 迫 町 , - machi ) was a city in the center of Iwate Prefecture in the northern part of the Japanese main island of Honshu .
geography
It was located about 30 km southeast of Morioka , the capital of the prefecture. Ōhasama was divided into 4 districts: the actual Ōhasama ( 大 迫 ) in the center, Kamegamori ( 亀 々 森 ) in the west, Uchikawame ( 内 川 目 ) in the north and Sotokawame ( 外 川 目 ) in the east.
history
On January 1, 2006, the city of Ōhasama was integrated into the city of Hanamaki and thus no longer exists as an independent administrative unit.
Attractions
Ōhasama is home to the mask dance Hayachine Kagura ( 早 池 峰 神 楽 ) which was included in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2009 .
