Okidoki ( spelling okidoki ) is a children's program of the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation on ORF 1 . The name is derived from the colloquial word Okay from American English.

history

From 1994 to 2008, Confetti TiVi was the forerunner of the new format. The okidoki line has been running since September 13, 2008. The new mascot "Franz Ferdinand", a purple wild boar, is a hand puppet and was made by former employees of the Jim Henson Company in Great Britain. The concept is designed by Thomas Brezina , who takes on the production of all new programs with his own company Tower10 KidsTV .

program

In contrast to Confetti TiVi, which targeted children from 0 to 15 years of age, okidoki is mainly intended to entertain only children up to 10 years of age. The reason for this is that the older audience switched more and more to other free TV channels, which damaged the ratings of the programs that were designed for this group. Because of this, programs like The Leaning Tower , Close Up or Drachenschatz were discontinued. Nonetheless, programs from the old program lines were also taken over, such as 1, 2 or 3 , Research Express or Miniversum . The latter two, however, have also been discontinued and replaced by new broadcast formats.

Under the title Hallo okidoki , five to ten minute magazine articles are interspersed several times in the morning on Saturdays and Sundays within the Okidoki program. They "connect" the individual programs and are presented by Christina Karnicnik or Robert Steiner , and since 2015 with the new mascot Kurt , the cat . The magazine blocks encourage participation, interaction with the broadcaster or competitions and offer tips and information. Brezina names the three principles "play, fun and enthusiasm" for the content.

Melanie Flicker and Christoph Hirschler have been strengthening the team of moderators at Hallo Okidoki since January 2020 .
