Ola Källenius (born June 11, 1969 in Västervik , Sweden ) is a Swedish manager and has been Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG since May 22, 2019 .

Life

After completing his military service in 1988/89, he completed a master's degree in "International Management" and "Finance and Accounting" at the Stockholm University of Commerce and the University of St. Gallen .

He began his professional life in 1993 at what was then Daimler-Benz AG in the "International Young Investigators Group". After his initial tasks in controlling, he took on various management positions within Daimler AG, including as Head of Purchasing “Powertrain” at the Mercedes Car Group. In 2010 he took over the chairmanship of the management of Mercedes-AMG GmbH , which he handed over to Tobias Moers on October 1, 2013 . From October 2013 he was a member of the Divisional Board of Mercedes-Benz Cars responsible for sales and was appointed to the Board of Management of Daimler AG on January 1, 2015. On January 1, 2017, as a member of the Board of Management, he took over the management of “Group Research and Mercedes-Benz Cars Development”. He thus became the successor to Thomas Weber , who had been responsible for this area since 2004 and has retired. Britta Seeger succeeded Källenius as a board member for Mercedes-Benz Cars Sales.

At the end of May 2019, Källenius replaced Dieter Zetsche as Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG. According to media reports, Källenius plans to save six billion euros in costs at Mercedes-Benz alone by 2021 due to high development expenditure. In addition, Källenius wants to help Daimler achieve a greener image and make the company “ CO 2 -free” by 2040 .
