Olaf Raschke (born March 11, 1963 in Görlitz ) is a German local politician ( non-party ). He has been Lord Mayor of Meißen since 2004 .

Life

Raschke went to elementary school in Görlitz and then attended the Dresden Polytechnic School . After completing his apprenticeship as an agricultural technician, he began working in an agricultural business near Meißen in 1981. After completing basic military service, he worked as a brigade leader on the farm.

At the LPG University in Meißen, he took a degree in agricultural engineering .

In 1991 he became head of department at the Meißen district office and later head of the office for the settlement of open property issues. He also completed part-time training to become an administrative business economist (VWA) with a focus on administrative law at the Saxon Administration and Business Academy in Dresden.

In 2000 Raschke was appointed head of the youth welfare office and deputy head of social affairs in the social affairs department. From this position, he was elected Lord Mayor of the large district town of Meißen on September 19, 2004 in the first ballot and took office on October 28, 2004. In 2011 he was confirmed in his office with 81.1%.

In 2018, after finishing second behind Frank Richter in the first ballot , he was re-elected with 43.5 percent and less than 100 votes ahead of Richter.
