The Olaria Atlético Clube is a sports club from the district of the same name in the north of the Brazilian metropolis of Rio de Janeiro and was founded on July 1, 1915 as Japonês Futebol Clube ("Japanese Football Club "), but renamed that same year in order to appeal to a wider audience . The club is primarily known for its football department .

The club participated in the national soccer championship of Brazil in 1974 and 1979 . In 1960 he won the Torneio Início of Rio de Janeiro.

The club gained attention when the world star Garrincha , one of the best footballers of all time, ended his career here in 1972. The club plays its home games in its own Estádio Mourão Vieira Filho , which is also located in the Olaria district, but which is usually only named after its location on Rua Bariri . The 12,000-seat stadium was inaugurated in April 1947 with a game between Fluminense and Vasco da Gama , which the former won 4-3. Vasco's Friaça scored the first goal.

A record crowd of 18,000 spectators saw on April 30, 1997 the 3-1 success of Flamengo over Bangu AC at the state championship in Rio de Janeiro .

The stadium is considered to be one of the more important stadiums in Rio de Janeiro and is also widely used by other clubs.

In addition to football, Olaria also has departments for futsal , karate , judo , basketball , swimming and button football ( Futebol de botão ).
