Oldřich František Korte

Oldřich František Korte (born April 26, 1926 in Šaľa ; † September 9, 2014 in Prague ) was a Czech composer .

Life

Korte was a student of his father František Korte and studied from 1943 to 1949 at the Conservatory in Prague with Franticek Picha , besides studying philosophy privately. He then worked in a wide variety of professions and was, among other things, a farm worker, forester, construction worker and firefighter. After 1945 he wrote music reviews, essays, but also scripts for radio programs and television series as a writer. As a pianist, he mainly performed with his own works. In addition, he worked for many years with the Prague theater Laterna magika and worked as a composer and musical director for the Prague National Theater, the Münchner Kammerspiele and the Folkteatern Gothenburg.

Among other things, he composed a ballet , drama music, a musical for young people, a sinfonietta, a concerto grosso for strings, trumpets and piano, a wind suite, chamber music works, troubadour chants for solos, choir and old instruments as well as the music for the film Intimate Lighting .
