Oldřich Machala (born August 4, 1963 in Bruntál ) is a former Czech football player and current football coach .

Oldřich Machala played for TJ Moravský Beroun since he was seven, and when he was 17 he moved to Sigma Olomouc . After only one season he went to Tábor to do his military service there. In 1984 the defender returned to Olomouc , where he became one of the most important players and an icon of the fans.

In 1986 he was at the debut of Sigma Olomouc on the European level, in 1990/91 the team reached third place, the best placement in the club's history. In seven seasons Machala had just missed twelve games and came to 198 appearances. In the summer of 1991 he moved to FC Hansa Rostock in the Bundesliga, for which he played 15 games. After half a year he moved on to VfB Oldenburg in the 2nd Bundesliga , for which he played 49 games in a year and a half, and scored one goal.

In 1993 he returned to Sigma Olomouc, with him the team played for the title in 1996, but only finished second in the end. Until 2000 he missed only two games, he was on the field in 195 games in a row. In the 2000/01 season he was only available on call and came to nine games.

In the first Czechoslovak and Czech leagues Machala played 415 games, all of them for Sigma Olomouc.

Oldřich Machala only played once in the Czech national team . It was a tribute to a player who had achieved a lot in Czech football. At the end of 1996, when Machala was already 33 years old, coach Dušan Uhrin took him on a trip to Casablanca , where the Czech team played for the King Hassan II Cup. On December 11, 1996, he was substituted in for René Wagner in the last minute of the game against Nigeria , which ended 2-1 .

Trainer

In the 2001/02 season Machala took over the coaching position in the B-team from Sigma Olmouc. In October 2001 he also became assistant coach for the A team. In 2002 Machala moved to third division SK Hranice, for whom he worked for three years. In 2005 he took over the second division team FK Kunovice, with whom he signed a one-year contract. In the summer of 2006 he was briefly without engagement before he took over FC Dosta Bystrc-Kníničky in the second Czech division on September 12, 2006. In the 2007/08 season Machala coached the third division SK Lipová. In the 2008/09 season he coached the second division club FC Hradec Králové . For the 2009/10 season Machala took over the third division team Fotbal Frýdek-Místek , before he went to 1. HFK Olomouc as head coach in May 2011 .
