The Oldenburg Computer Museum (OCM) is a museum founded in Oldenburg (Oldb) in 2008 , which is dedicated to the preservation and operational presentation of the history of home computers .

Overview

The museum shows computers , video games and arcade machines from the 1970s, 80s and 90s. The special thing about it: the exhibits are ready to use and invite visitors to try out and use them. The OCM has existed since November 2008, and its management is in the hands of the non-profit association “Oldenburger Computer-Museum e. V. “and volunteer helpers. The aim of the Oldenburg Computer Museum is to preserve the home computer culture as a tangible exhibition with fully functional exhibits. The exhibits are equipped with software , they can - and should - be used, researched and experienced. In this way, visitors get a feeling for the relationship to current computer technology and see the development of individual aspects ( graphics , sound, speed, mass storage , space requirements of the technology). Here you can play old classic games on the Commodore C64 , Atari 2600 , Amiga and Co., write your own programs and experience the history of home computers .

Initially started as an exhibition on a small area, the move to the current rooms took place in 2014, where, in addition to the permanent exhibition “Home computers of the 1970s and 80s”, there is also an arcade hall on 620 m².
