Life

Brodskyj was a member of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR since 1939 and a corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR from 1943 .

Brodskyj investigated the hydrogen isotope deuterium , was a pioneer in the production of heavy water and developed a method for the quantitative determination of the deuterium, which was relevant in armaments engineering.

He investigated the influence of a solvent on the chemical equilibrium, the electrode potentials and the various properties of solutions. He dealt with chemical reaction mechanisms as well as the structure and conversion of free radicals . He is the author of a university textbook on physical chemistry and monographs on the theory of electrolytes and isotope chemistry .

He lived in Kiev, where he died at the age of 74 and was buried in the Baikowe cemetery .
