Oleoresin

Oleoresins are coloring or flavoring extracts that are obtained from seeds , roots , leaves or fruits by means of solvent extraction. The word contains oleo , on the one hand, as a reference to the essential oils contained in almost all oleoresins, and on the other hand, resin , which stands for the resins , waxes and secondary active ingredients that are also extracted .

As solvents both non-polar solvent such as come hexane or acetone used, as well as polar solvents such as ethanol and methanol . Furthermore, is supercritical carbon dioxide and water vapor is used.
