Olga Jensch-Jordan
Olga Jensch-Jordan (born Jordan; born March 13, 1913 in Nuremberg , † February 22, 2000 in Berlin ) was a German art jumper and trainer.
In the 1930s she was considered one of the most elegant representatives of her sport in Europe. In 1931 and 1934 she was European champion in jumping from the 3-meter board. In 1932 she took part in the Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles and was fourth in jumping. At the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin, she was fifth in the same discipline.
At the 1932 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, she met Arthur Jensch, Secretary of the German Olympic Committee and Vice-Chief de Mission. The two married shortly after the Games. The marriage produced three daughters. Her youngest daughter Heidi became a GDR jumping champion in 1957. Arthur Jensch was drafted into Volkssturmbataillon 3/107 in January 1945 and fell a short time later.
Since Arthur Jensch had been SS-Obersturmbannführer from the leadership of the Reichsportführung , Olga Jensch-Jordan hardly had a chance to continue her sporting career after the end of the war. Instead, she became active as a trainer in the GDR . She achieved her last major successes as a sportsperson in 1948 and 1949 when she was GDR champion in jumping. In 1948 she was co-founder of the German Sports Committee and in 1951 co-founder of the GDR's NOK , of which she was a member until 1961. Her protégés took part in a total of 21 state championships. Her son-in-law Hans-Dieter Pophal , the husband of her youngest daughter Heidi, whom she also coached, achieved fourth place at the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo . Most recently, Jensch-Jordan was a trainer at the Berlin TSC , of which she was one of the founding members and where she trained Marina Janicke , among others .
