Olga Alexandrovna Lander ( Russian Ольга Александровна Ландер ; born April 10, 1909 in Samara , † September 19, 1996 in Moscow ) was a Soviet photographer.

Life

Lander came from a Jewish family; she was the daughter of photographer Aleksandr Issajewitch Lander and his wife Yevgenia Issakovna. After graduating from high school in her hometown, she began training at the Stroganov Institute in Moscow in 1927; at the same time, she took a job in Moses Nappelbaum's photo studio . She continued her training in the artists' association of the stankowists and became a student and assistant to David Sternberg . From 1930 she worked for the film studio Tadshikfilm. In 1932 she married Leonid Rajgorodskij, and their daughter Irina was born in 1933. In 1934 she separated from her husband and worked as a photo lab technician for the Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper , for which she soon also worked as a photo correspondent. Lander traveled to large parts of the Soviet Union for her photo reports. In 1936, she married her editorial colleague Leonid Aleksejewitsch Korobow.

From 1943 to 1948 she worked in the area of ​​the Soviet Southwest Front as a photo reporter for the newspaper of the Southwest Front Sowjetskij Woin (Soviet Fighter). After the end of the war, the Sovetsky Woin became the newspaper of the Soviet troops stationed in Bulgaria and Romania. After her return to Moscow, Lander was only able to work as a photographer again in 1953, and from 1956 for the newspaper Sovetskaya Rossija . She stayed there until her retirement in 1974.

The more than 3000 negatives of Lander's war photos are now stored in the State Historical Museum and the Central Museum of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in Moscow, as well as in the Russian State Archive for Film and Photo Documentation in Krasnogorsk and in Ukrainian museums in Odessa and Zaporozhye .
