Olha Wolodymyriwna Wolkowa ( Ukrainian Ольга Володимирівна Волкова , born July 5, 1986 in Mykolaiv ) is a Ukrainian freestyle skier . She specializes in the aerials (jumping) discipline.

biography

Wolkowa made her World Cup debut on March 10, 2004 in Sauze d'Oulx . She won her first World Cup points on February 5, 2005 with 9th place in Shenyang . Several top 10 results followed in each of the following five years, but it was not enough for the world's best. At the end of the 2009/10 season, two fifth places were her best results.

The first podium in a World Cup competition succeeded Wolkowa on January 29, 2011 with 3rd place in Calgary . Six days later she was able to celebrate the greatest success of her sports career to date by winning the bronze medal at the 2011 World Championships in Deer Valley . She celebrated her first World Cup victory on January 15, 2012 in Mont Gabriel . With four further podium places she finished third in the discipline ranking of the 2011/12 season.
