As part of the municipal reorganization of Portugal on September 29, 2013, the municipality of Oliveira do Mondego was merged with Travanca do Mondego to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias de Oliveira do Mondego e Travanca do Mondego . The seat of the new municipality was Oliveira do Mondego.
