Oliver Axnick (born May 17, 1970 in Füssen ) is a former German curling player . He is two-time European champion and seven-time German champion.

Career

Axnick began curling at the age of 16. Since 1992 he has been part of Andreas Kapp's team at the Füssen Curling Club , with whom he rose to become one of the most successful German curling players.

He celebrated his first title in 1992 at the European Championships in Perth, Scotland . He was able to repeat this success in 1997 in the championships in Füssen. Axnick achieved three third places at world championships (1994, 1995, 2005) and was runner-up in 1997 in Bern . Axnick took part in the Winter Olympics in 2006 and 1998 , but could not qualify for the semifinals.

At the national level, Axnick secured a total of seven German championship titles with the Curling Club Füssen: 1994, 1995, 1997, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2005.

After Axnick retired from active curling in 2006, he supported German curling as a national coach from 2007 to 2010. In 2007 at the World Championships in Edmonton he was still vice-world champion as assistant coach for the Kapp team and coached the two German teams at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver . At the end of June 2010 he ended his coaching contract for professional reasons.
