Oliver Brand

Oliver Brand (born April 11, 1974 in Bielefeld ) is a German legal scholar . Since 2009 he has held the chair for civil law , private insurance law , business law and comparative law at the University of Mannheim .

Life

Brand was born in Bielefeld in 1974 . From 1993 he studied law and political science at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster , where he passed the first state examination in 1998 and obtained his doctorate in 2000 on "The International Interest Law of England". In 2001 he passed the assessor exam at the LJPA Düsseldorf and became a research assistant at the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf . In 2005 he obtained a “Master of Laws” degree from the University of Cambridge / United Kingdom. In 2008 he completed his habilitation as a student of Petra Pohlmann again in Münster. In the same year he took over a professorship in Mannheim, where he was offered a chair in 2009. In 2013, Brand was awarded the Baden-Württemberg State Teaching Prize in the field of universities for his teaching concept “Creating Law” .
