Petra Pohlmann

Petra Pohlmann (born March 31, 1961 in Oberhausen ) is a German lawyer specializing in insurance law and antitrust law . She has held the chair for civil law, commercial law and civil procedural law at the University of Münster since 2004 .

Life

Pohlmann studied English and history at the University of Münster from 1980 . In 1981 she enrolled in law and passed the first state examination there in 1986. The legal clerkship took place at the district court of Hagen. After spending several months at the delegate of German business in Washington DC, she passed the second state examination in 1990 in Düsseldorf. In 1991 she did her doctorate at the University of Münster with a thesis on the law of obligations, which was awarded the Harry Westermann Prize of the Society for the Promotion of the Westphalian Wilhelms University the following year.

After teaching positions at the University of Münster, he completed his habilitation there in 1997 on an antitrust topic. In the same year she was appointed as a university professor at the University of Düsseldorf . From 1998 to 2013 (on leave from 2001) she worked as a part-time judge at the Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court . In 2004 she moved back to the University of Münster. There she has been the managing director of the Research Center for Insurance since 2005, succeeding Helmut Kollhosser . Pohlmann has been a member of the Insurance Advisory Board at the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority since 2010 . From April 2011 to March 2018 she was a member of the Supervisory Board of Allianz Versicherungs-AG . In addition, she was a member of the supervisory board of Germany's largest private regional bank , Oldenburgische Landesbank AG, from June 2013 to March 2018 . She is also the editor of the Frankfurt Commentary on Antitrust Law and the trade journal Wirtschaft und Competition .

Petra Pohlmann is married and has three children.
