Oliver N'Goma

Oliver N'Goma (born March 23, 1959 in Mayumba , † June 7, 2010 in Libreville ), nicknamed "Noli", was a singer and guitarist from Gabon . His preferred genres were Afro-Zouk and Soukous .

Oliver N'Goma was born in Mayumba, a coastal village in the southwest of the country. In 1971 the family moved to the capital, Libreville . N'Goma's father was a teacher and played the harmonium . As a teenager he learned accounting after attending school and played guitar in the school band Capo Sound . Because of his passion for films, N'Goma was employed by Gabon TV and sent to France in 1988 to be trained as a cameraman. In Paris he met the Cape Verdean musician Manu Lima , who produced his first two albums. He is best known for his 1989 song Bane , which was released by Radio Africa No. 1 was broadcast.

Oliver N'Goma died on June 7, 2010 at Omar Bongo Hospital in Libreville, Gabon, of kidney failure , a disease he had struggled with in the last two years of his life.
