Oliver Stoll (sports psychologist)

Oliver Stoll (born February 5, 1963 ) is a German sports scientist .

Life

Stoll studied sports science, psychology and education at the University of Giessen and at the College of Charleston (SC, USA). He was promoted to Dr. phil. PhD in sports science at the University of Gießen and went to Leipzig University as a research assistant in 1995 . Here he also received his habilitation in 2002 . In 2002 he became professor for sports science with a focus on sports psychology and sports education at the University of Halle .

He mainly deals with "perfectionism" as well as with flow experiences in sport and with the development and evaluation of sport-psychological interventions in competitive sport. He developed the first university master’s degree in sport psychology in Germany.

In addition to his teaching and research work, Stoll provides psychological support and advice to competitive athletes. In this role he was also one of the supervisors for the German team for the 2008 Summer Olympics . From 1997 to 1999, 2009 to 2011 and 2013 to 2015, Stoll was on the board / presidium of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Sportpsychologie e. V. Since May 2017 he has been Vice President of Competitive Sport of the Working Group for Sport Psychology in Germany (ASP). For the German Swimming Association he managed and coordinated the sport psychological support of the squad athletes between 2010 and 2019. Between February 2009 and September 2014 he was President of the Floorball Association Germany (FVD). Between December 8, 2010 and January 1, 2015 he was a member of the Central Board of the International Floorball Federation (IFF). In addition to his academic work, Oliver Stoll is also self-employed. Since January 11, 2020, he has been the owner of a sports psychological advice center in Leipzig.
