Oliver T. Marsh

Oliver T. Marsh (born January 30, 1892 in Kansas City , USA ; † May 5, 1941 in Los Angeles , USA ) was an American cameraman.

Life

Through the mediation of his sister, the actress Mae Marsh, Oliver T. Marsh came into contact with the director David Wark Griffith and began a contract with Biograph Filmproduktion . From 1918 he worked as a chief cameraman and very soon became one of the most sought-after image designers. After moving to MGM , he shaped the opulent style cultivated there and worked with the most prominent directors and actors of his time. Marsh died at the age of 49 in the middle of preparing for another film.

In 1939 he and Allen M. Davey were awarded an honorary Oscar for joint camera work on Sweethearts . At the 1941 Academy Awards , the two were nominated for an Oscar for their work on Bitter Sweet .
