Olivier Guez (born June 15, 1974 in Strasbourg , France ) is a French journalist and writer .

Life

Guez studied from 1992 to 1996 at the Institut d'études politiques in Strasbourg , where he graduated with a degree in international relations . In 1996 and 1997 he studied this subject at the London School of Economics and, in parallel, completed a law degree as a correspondence course at the University of Lille II and the CNED . At the Collège d'Europe in Bruges , he passed a master's examination in European politics and administration in 1998 . In 1998 he was posted to Bosnia-Herzegovina by the OSCE and the French Foreign Ministry to observe the elections . He then reported on Latin America, Europe and the Middle East for the French daily Liberation from Brussels .

Guez worked from 2000 to 2005 as an employee for international economic issues for La Tribune, among other things on the European Union and petroleum policy. Since then he has also worked for various national and international newspapers and magazines.

Between 2005 and 2006 lived Guez as part of a European journalist Fellowship with a residency program of the Senate of Berlin as a guest of the Free University of Berlin in Berlin . The French Foreign Ministry sent him in 2009 to head an observer mission to Afghanistan and Pakistan .

Guez has lived in Paris since 2009 and works as a cultural reporter from France for the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung . Of the seven books he has published by 2020, four have been translated into German.
