Ololygon ariadne ( synonym : Scinax ariadne ) is a neotropical frog belonging to the subfamily knick-toe tree frogs within the tree frog family . According to Faivovich et al. (2005) the species was counted within the genus Scinax to the Scinax catharinae clade. In 2016 this clade was raised to the genus Ololygon .

Duellman & Wiens (1992) placed the species in the genus Scinax .

description

Compared to other members of the genus, this medium-sized buck toe tree frog has a characteristic circular contour around the head, a dark back color with silver markings and a dark dorsal color of the limbs with transversal white stripes

distribution

This species endemic in Brazil is so far only from the "Parque Nacional da Serra da Bocaina", which is located in the two states of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro , from heights between 500 and 1600 m above sea level. NN known.

Habitat and Ecology

Ololygon ariadne is found in vegetation near streams, which it uses for reproduction, in primary and secondary forests .

Danger

The IUCN lists Ololygon ariadne as a data deficient because too little is known about its distribution and ecological demands. However, the species is not rare, shows a stable population trend and, as already mentioned, occurs in a protected area. Therefore, no dangers are currently known.
