The Olymphilex , called Olympic Expo or Olympex in Beijing in 2008 , is an international stamp exhibition that is thematically dedicated to the Olympic Games . It is under the auspices of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and is part of the cultural activities of the Olympic movement.

The Swiss city of Lausanne , organized by the Fédération Internationale de Philatélie (FIP), the world association for philately , took place in the Swiss city of Lausanne from March 18 to 24, 1985 . During this exhibition, the private collection of the then IOC President Juan Antonio Samaranch was shown, which is considered to be one of the most comprehensive and valuable collections of Olympic stamps and is currently in the Olympic Museum . In the years in which the Olympic Games are held, the exhibition takes place in the context of the Olympic Games in the host city. Since the sixth exhibition in Atlanta in 1996 , the Olymphilex has been held according to the competition criteria of the FIP, so that prizes are awarded under various aspects.

At the 2008 Games in Beijing , the name of the exhibition was for the first time “Olympic Expo” or “Olympex” for short, to illustrate the expanded scope of content, which in addition to postage stamps also included coins , medals , badges , objets d'art and other Olympic-related collectibles.
