Andrew Lauterstein (born May 22, 1987 in Melbourne ) is an Australian swimmer.

He grew up in Black Rock , Victoria and has an older brother and a younger sister. He currently lives and trains in Gold Coast under his trainer Glenn Baker .

Lauterstein achieved his first international success when he took part in the heats of the 4 × 100m relay at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne , and thus had a small share in the first place in the Australian relay. In the same year he reached the bronze medal with the Australian individual relay at the Pan Pacific Championships 2006 in Victoria , Canada . A year later he won the gold medal in the final of the World Swimming Championships in Melbourne in 2007 with the 4 × 100m individual relay relay. At the Australian Championships in Sydney in 2008 he took first place in the 100 m butterfly and was second in the 50 m butterfly. He finished third in the 100 m freestyle.

At the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing , he took part in the 4 × 100m freestyle relay, the 4 × 100m individual relay relay and the 100 m butterfly competition. In the final of the freestyle relay, he swam the second round and finally won the bronze medal with the team. He swam the 100 m butterfly as the third fastest swimmer in the semi-finals, personal best and set a new Australian record. In the final he won the bronze medal with a time of 51.12 seconds. On the last day of the swimming competition, he finally won the silver medal in the 4 × 100m individual relay, behind the Americans.
