The Greco-Roman wrestling in the heavyweight division at the 1936 Summer Olympics was held from August 6th to 9th in the Deutschlandhalle . A maximum of one athlete per nation was allowed to compete. The permissible body weight of an athlete had to be over 87 kg.
The competition was held according to an elimination system with minus points. In every round, every athlete had a fight. If there was an odd number of athletes, one athlete had a bye. The loser of a battle won three penalty points as it passes through a shoulder victory defeated his opponent or with 0: Lost the Battle 3 points. The athlete received two minus points with a defeat of 1: 2 points. The winner received one minus point if he won on points and 0 minus points if he won on shoulders. At the end of each round, each athlete with more than 4 minus points was eliminated.
