The final of the horse jump women in the 2012 Olympic Games in London was on August 5, 2012 at the North Greenwich Arena discharged. A total of 18 gymnasts competed.
In the qualifying competition on July 29, 2012, eight gymnasts had qualified for the final. The regulations stipulated that only two starters per NOK were allowed to compete in the final. A third qualifier was not allowed to compete and was replaced by the gymnast who was the next best.
Each athlete completed two jumps. Each jump was rated according to difficulty (A-Score) and execution (B-Score) and added to the overall grade, any penalty points were deducted directly. The final score was determined using the average of the two overall grades. The points of the qualification jumps were not taken into account.

Winner Sandra Izbașa ensured the fifth Romanian gold medal in this discipline.
Canada's Ellie Black received a 0,000 rating in her first jump because she didn't land on her feet. In the second jump she had to go through injury due to an injury and again received a rating of 0,000.
Oksana Chusovitina (GER) was the oldest participant at 37 and her teammate Janine Berger was the youngest at 16. Like her Bulgarian colleague Yordan Yovtchev, Chusovitina took part in her sixth Olympic Games here. In 1992 she started for the CIS and won gold in the team all-around competition. In 1996, 2000 and 2004 she started for Uzbekistan , since 2008 for Germany (silver in horse jumping).
