Omanosaura is a genus of lizards from the family of real lizards (Lacertidae).

features

Omanosaura species are small to large and reach a total length of up to 60 centimeters. The shields that follow the first supratemporal always meet with beveled edges. There is an additional row of enlarged shields on the inside of the forearm. The temporal scaling is granular, with a very small tympanicum and without an enlarged central scale ( massetericum ). The frontal is indented twice on the front. The supratemporalia lie on the parietal plate . The collars are very narrow and have a smooth rear edge. The tail scales ( caudalia ) are strongly keeled. There are distinct folds of skin on both sides of the neck. The armature of the hemipenis is strongly developed and the lobes are strongly folded.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 38.

Occurrence

The area of ​​the genus is limited to the Oman Mountains in the east of the Arabian Peninsula .

Systematics

The genus consists of the two species Omanosaura jayakari (Boulenger, 1887) and Omanosaura cyanura (Arnold, 1972).
