The Onaman Lake is a lake in Thunder Bay District in the Canadian province of Ontario .
Onaman Lake is 50 km east of Lake Nipigo . It is drained on the north bank by the Onaman River , which flows into Lake Nipigo. The Ontario Highway 11 runs about 30 km south. The settlement of Nakina is 50 km northeast of Onaman Lake.
The lake lies in the area of the Canadian Shield at an altitude of 325 m . It has a longitudinal extension in the southwest-northeast direction of 25 km. The maximum width is 7.5 km. The lake area is 113 km².
The remote lake is usually reached by seaplane. Fishing tourists can catch eyeglasses and pike in the lake .
The name of the lake is derived from the Ojibwe word onâman , which means vermilion or "red clay".
