One UI is a user interface developed by Samsung Electronics for smartphones of the Galaxy series, which is based on Android .

As the successor to TouchWiz and Samsung Experience , One UI was released on December 24, 2018 in some countries on the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 +; One UI has been available for the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 , Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 + since February 2019. Other countries and devices are to follow in spring 2019.

Features

  • Important control elements of the user interface are located in the lower half of the screen so that they can be more easily reached when using the device with one hand;
    the upper half is now primarily used to display information ( interaction and viewing area )
  • The navigation bar at the bottom of the screen has new icons and takes over the gesture control introduced with Android Pie
  • Night mode

Galaxy series devices receive One UI (1.0) with the update to Android Pie .
