The Samsung Galaxy S10 , the Samsung Galaxy S10 + and the Samsung Galaxy S10e are smartphones from the Galaxy series from the South Korean electronics company Samsung Electronics . The smartphones were presented at the Samsung Unpacked Event on February 20, 2019 at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco . The official start of sales in Germany was March 8, 2019. There is also a model with a 5G -capable modem called the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G .

design

The Galaxy S10 is available in Germany in the colors Prism black (black), Prism white (white), Prism green (green), Prism blue (blue) and Prism silver (silver). The Galaxy S10e is also available in Canary Yellow, the S10 + is also available in Ceramic black (black) and Ceramic white (white), and the S10 5G is available in Majestic black (black). Outside of Germany, the colors Cardinal red (red) and Flamingo pink (pink) are also available.

On the back of the Galaxy S10, the camera bar is not mounted vertically, as is often the case, but horizontally. Depending on the variant, this has between two and four lenses. Samsung does not have a notch on the front, instead the front camera is in a punch hole, a hole punched in the display for the camera. This solution takes up the least space compared to a notch or raindrop. The back is made of glass, the Galaxy S10 + is also available in ceramic, inductive charging is possible with all models. The frame is made of metal.

All models are also IP-68 certified and thus protected against the ingress of dust and water. The devices can withstand a depth of 1.5 meters in fresh water for up to 30 minutes.

Technical specifications

Compared to the previous models, the devices have a fingerprint sensor integrated in the display (not the S10e), a recess for the camera in the display and a wide-angle and ultra-wide-angle camera as the main camera. The third camera on the back of the S10 and S10 + has a 12 megapixel telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom. The S10 + also has a second front camera with 8 megapixels. The display technology is also new - a dynamic AMOLED display is used, which is supposed to be easy on the eyes.

For the first time, it is possible with the phones to charge certain other devices that are supported. Also, Wi-Fi 6 takes place in the phones using, for the mobile device is in LTE at speeds of up to 2.0 gigabits per second limited.

As with its predecessors, the Bixby voice assistant , which is set by default, has its own button again, but this can be freely assigned from this generation onwards.

The S10 + variant uses two different chips: While the Snapdragon chip from Qualcomm is only installed in the devices intended for China, Japan, Canada, Latin America and the United States, the Exynos chip from Samsung is found in the devices for the other markets, also in the European Union, in order to be able to cover the expected worldwide demand for the telephones. The use of the Exynos chip has been criticized by technology experts as it leads to noticeable battery life and performance losses.
