Oon Chong Teik

Oon Chong Teik (born August 31, 1936 ) is a former Malaysian badminton player .

Oon studied medicine at Cambridge and was also able to indulge his passion for badminton. In 1961 and 1962, where he was studying, he made it to the semi-finals of the All England , the then unofficial world championships . He had previously won the Welsh Open singles and the Scottish Open doubles with Eddy B. Choong in 1957 . With Eddy Choong he also fought for first place at the 1957 Dutch Open and the Irish Open of the same year. In 1961 he won at Belgian International both singles and doubles with Ole Mertz . In 1963 he used his stay in Europe for a detour to the GDR , where he won two tournaments in Tröbitz . In 1964 he was successful at the French Open with his brother Oon Chong Jin .

His biggest sporting disappointment was the Thomas Cup final in 1958, where he was not used, although he personally felt himself to be the number one or two Malaysians.
