Opárenské údolí

In the Wopparner Valley

The Opárenské údolí (German Wopparner Valley ) is an approximately five kilometer long Kerbtal in the Bohemian Central Mountains . It lies between Velemín ( Wellemin ) and Malé Žernoseky ( Kleintschernosek ), through which the Milešovský potok ( Milleschauer Bach ) flows. It reaches a depth of 50 to 100 m. The valley was named after the place Oparno ( Wopparn ), which lies in a side valley above the valley on Opárenský potok ( Wopparn brook ). The Opárno castle ruins rise above the village .

description

The railway line from Teplitz to Lobositz also runs in the valley , as part of the North Bohemian Transversal Railway , with the “Oparno” station. Due to a landslide, the section is z. Currently not passable for an indefinite period. A motorway bridge on the D8 motorway crosses the valley between Konradsmühle and Neue Mühle west of Oparno. It is a reinforced concrete arch bridge with a span of 135 m, a height of about 30 m above the valley floor and a length of 275 m.

Due to its biodiversity and its attractiveness, the valley is well developed for tourism. There are hiking trails, natural science trails and cycle routes. Until 1945 led Kegelweg through the valley over Wellemin to Milleschauer , now it is the Zlatá stezka Zemi hradů ( Gold Trail in the land of castles ).

Valley mills

According to Meinhold's guide: North Bohemia, in 1912 there were eight mills here in the valley:

  1. Katscherkenmühle ( Kačírkův mlýn )
  2. Pisel mill ( Mádrův mlýn )
  3. Horak Mill ( Horákův mlýn )
  4. New mill ( Nový mlýn )
  5. Konradsmühle ( Konrádův mlýn ), also German mill, now Opárenský mlýn
  6. Schwarztaler Mill ( Černodolský mlýn ), also Schwarzmühle ( Černý mlýn )
  7. Swiss mill (Švýcarský mlýn), now the “Kemp Jordan” children's holiday camp
  8. Imperial Mill ( Císařský mlýn ), now a holiday home

The old mill buildings are mostly converted into residential or weekend houses. In Černodolský mlýn and Opárenský mlýn there is a restaurant with a guesthouse. At the Kaisermühle there is an old plague stone with a double cross to commemorate the plague epidemic of 1680. The Oprárenský mlýn (formerly Konradsmühle ) dates back to 1649. It was extensively renovated with the help of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and in June 2011 by the Czech youth association Asociace turistických oddílů mládeže (A-TOM) and the Erzgebirgsverein (EV ) opened as a meeting and education center for German and Czech young people.
