Velemín (German Wellemin , also Welemin , in the 18th century Welmina) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . The village is located seven kilometers north-west of Lovosice and belongs to the North Bohemian Okres Litoměřice .
geography
Velemín is located in the Czech Central Uplands on the left Elbe . The village is traversed by the Milešovský potok ( Milleschauer Bach ), a tributary of the Elbe. The Ostrý ( Scharfenstein ) rises to the southwest .
Neighboring towns are Bílý Újezd in the north, Chotiměř and Oparno in the east, Březno in the south and Milešov in the west.

State road I / 8 runs through the village. Until the completion of the D8 motorway at the end of 2014, this will be part of Europastraße 55 , the heavy volume of transit traffic of which has brought the town considerable impairment of quality of life, but also sales in the catering trade, especially since 1990. East of the place there is access to the Lovosice – Teplice railway line of the North Bohemian Transversal Railway at the Chotiměř stop .
history
The first written mention of Wellemin dates back to 1227. A Gothic castle with a moat from the 14th century existed in the northeast of the village. Half of the village (later the entire place) Velemín belonged to the noble family Kaplíř ze Sulevic , who sold the place to Jindřich Vencelík z Vrchovišť around 1480. Before that, the second half of the village belonged to the St. George Monastery at Prague Castle . As early as 1508, the castle was considered desolate.

The municipality Velemín consists of the districts Bílinka ( Bílinka ), Bílý Újezd ( Weißaujezd ) Boreč ( Boretz ), Březno ( Billed ) Dobkovičky ( Dubkowitz ) Hrušovka ( Ruscholka ) Kletečná ( Kletschen ) Milešov ( Milleschau ) Oparno ( Wopparn ), Režný Újezd ( Rezny Aujezd ) and Velemín ( Welemin ). Basic development units are Bílinka, Bílý Újezd, Boreč, Březno, Dobkovičky, Hrušovka, Kletečná, Milešov, Oparno, Páleč ( Palitsch ) Režný Újezd, Velemín I and Velemín II. For Velemín also include the spatial layers Mlýnce ( Leinitz ) and Zbožná ( Boschney ) .
The municipality is divided into the cadastral districts of Bílý Újezd, Boreč u Lovosic, Březno, Dobkovičky, Kletečná, Milešov u Lovosic, Oparno, Páleč u Milešova and Velemín.
