Michalovice (German Michelsberg ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located four kilometers west of the city center of Litoměřice in the right Elbe part of the Bohemian Central Uplands and belongs to the Okres Litoměřice .
geography
The village is located at the north-western foot of the Radobýl (399 m) above the limestone slopes above Litoměřice. The Trešnovka (261 m) rises to the west.
Neighboring towns are Malíč in the north, Knobloška in the northeast, Veveří and Třídomí in the east, Žalhostice in the south and Velké Žernoseky in the west.
history
Michalovice was probably created at the same time as the neighboring town of Malíč . Already in the days of the Wartenbergers, the stately vineyards of Tetschen were located here on the Schuppa . After the Battle of the White Mountain , the Thun and Hohenstein family became new owners. The existence of the Michelsberg village has only been recorded in writing since 1720.
Around 1800 the place had 250 inhabitants. A wine press was operated in the village and there was also a limestone quarry. In addition, fruit and root crops were grown. In 1885 the population had increased to 285. In 1930, 315 people lived in the village, most of them Germans. The increase in population means that some of the residents worked in Leitmeritz, as agriculture could not feed them. The settlements Ober Michelsberg ( Horní Michalovice ) and Dreihäuseln ( Třídomí ) have always belonged to the municipality .
