Miřejovice (German Mirschowitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located three kilometers northwest of Litoměřice in the right Elbe part of the Bohemian Central Uplands . The place has an irregular development due to multiple landslides.
geography
Miřejovice is located on a steep slope south of the Plešivec , Kamýk, Hradiště mountain range . To the southwest lies the Bidnice hill and to the south is the Richard repository and the Litoměřice army camp .
Neighboring towns are Hlinná in the north, Skalice in the northeast, Žitenice in the east, Pokratice and Litoměřice in the southeast, Malíč , Knobložka and Michalovice in the southwest and Kamýk in the west.
history
The first written mention of Miřejovice comes from 1322. The residents of the village lived from agriculture and forestry. Favored by the sunny hillside location above Leitmeritz, viticulture and fruit growing dominated, with Miřejovice being a center of walnut cultivation in particular.
Owners of the village were u. a. the Zajíc von Hasenburg , followed by the Lords of Kamýk , Cernin of Chudenic , the Margraves of Baden-Baden and the Schwarzenbergs . At the beginning of the 19th century Mirschowitz had about 200 inhabitants and their number continued to grow until the middle of the 20th century.
After the Second World War the townscape changed and the original rural character was lost. Detached houses atypical of the location were built instead of the original farmhouses, and the land-use planning of the place made Miřejovice a settlement on the outskirts of Litoměřice. Historic chapels were left to decay and demolished.
