history
The first written mention of Stanchouici took place in 1255 in a document issued in Znojmo , in which the dispute between the Břevnov monastery and the Order of St. John over the tithe of the St. John Ploskovice court with the villages of Pohořany , Trnovany and Podviní was settled. After the Hussite Wars, the Lords of Ruppau (Roupov) acquired the farm. The existence of a festival has been recorded since 1545. After the battle of the White Mountain , Wenceslaus Wilhelm von Roupov's goods were confiscated.
In 1711 the first chapel was built on the village square, which was consecrated to the Virgin of the Assumption in 1724. In 1867 it was demolished and replaced by a larger new building. A year later this was dedicated to St. Procopius consecrated. In 1850 the village had 256 inhabitants. The residential buildings in the village are stone houses in the Neo-Renaissance and Empire styles as well as rustic wooden buildings. After 1930 Staňkovice had 41 houses and over 150 residents.
Before 1945 the resident population lived from growing hops and fruit as well as from raising cattle. Stones were quarried from nearby quarries to make door frames and steps.
