Wenzel Wilhelm von Roupov , in Czech Václav Vilém z Roupova , also Wenzel Wilhelm von Ruppa (born before 1615; died September 20, 1641 in Leitmeritz ) was a Bohemian nobleman. He gained importance in 1618 as the leader of the Directory of Bohemia during the uprising in Bohemia .

Life

Wenzel Wilhelm von Roupov came from the Bohemian noble family Roupov ( Páni z Roupova ), who named themselves after the village of Roupov in the Pilsen region . He studied at Italian and Swiss universities and was a member of the Bohemian Brothers . In the run-up to the Bohemian Estates uprising of 1618, he was involved in the anti-Habsburg opposition for several years. In 1615, together with the Bohemian nobles Joachim Andreas von Schlick and Wilhelm von Lobkowitz, he conducted negotiations with Emperor Matthias , who was also King of Bohemia .

His education made him one of the outstanding members of the Board of Directors, which chose him as its leader. Although one of the most influential members, he remained so involved in the work of the Board of Directors that he was almost completely forgotten in the years that followed.

Wenzel Wilhelm von Roupov was married to Alena von Fels and Schwihau .

After the Battle of White Mountain in 1618 he left Bohemia and lived in exile. He was convicted in absentia. In 1631 he returned briefly with the Saxon Army ; from 1632 he lived in Dresden.
