Bohušovice nad Ohří (German Bauschowitz an der Eger , older also Busowitz , Buschewitz ) is a city in the Czech Republic . It is located six kilometers south of Litoměřice on the left bank of the Eger and belonged to the Okres Litoměřice .
Community structure
The town of Bohušovice nad Ohří consists of the districts Bohušovice nad Ohří ( Bauschowitz an der Eger ) and Hrdly ( Herdly ), which also form cadastral districts.
history
A Slavic settlement was already in the 9th century on the site of today's city. "Bogušovci" was first mentioned in a document in 1057. Due to its location on the trade route from Prague via Leitmeritz to Saxony, Bauschowitz developed into a small market town.
After the settlement of the War of the Bavarian Succession , in which the Prussian army marched into Bohemia in 1778, Emperor Joseph II had a fortress built two kilometers north of Bauschowitz in the swampy area in 1780 . It was supposed to protect the Bohemian Basin and the capital. The fortress was named Theresienstadt after his late mother Maria Theresa .
The opening of the railway connection from Prague to Dresden was of great economic importance for the place. With the construction of a train station, Bauschowitz became a transshipment point for the products of the agriculturally dominated lower Egertal and food production companies were established. This development led to Bohušovice receiving town charter in 1920.
Even today Bohušovice is a center of food production and has a large dairy. About six kilometers away, the city is bypassed by the D8 motorway to the west and south and can be reached via exits 45 Lovosice -vychod and 35 Doksany .
Hrdly
Hrdly (German: Herdle , older also Heridel ) was the seat of a manor belonging to the Břevnov Monastery , which served as the administrative center of the monastery property in this area. The administration building was rebuilt 1746–1747 by the master builder Kilian Ignaz Dientzenhofer ; at the same time a chapel with a flat porch and a presbytery was built.
