Brzánky (German Bresanken ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located six kilometers northeast of Roudnice nad Labem in the Elbe Valley and belongs to the Okres Litoměřice .
geography
The village is located on the right Elbe on the southern slope of the 278 m high conical mountain Sovice (Sowitz). Neighboring towns are Vetlá in the north, Mastířovice and Kochovice in the northeast, Záluží in the east, Kozlovice in the south, Kyškovice in the southwest, Černěves in the west and Chodouny in the northwest.
history
Brzánky was first mentioned in 1338 as the property of the Monastery of the Virgin Mary in Roudnice nad Labem. At that time there was a monastery vineyard and orchards near the village. In 1577 Wilhelm von Rosenberg bought the village, later it was owned by the Lobkowicz family . The name of the village comes from brzo (early) and refers to the favorable vegetation conditions due to the southern slope.
