Lkáň (German Welkan , older also Elkan ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It belongs to the Okres Litoměřice .

geography

The place is located 5 km southwest of Třebenice at 209 m above sea level. M. on both sides of the Rosovka river on the Hasenburger Platte in the southwest of the Bohemian Central Uplands . Neighboring towns are Dlažkovice in the north, Chodovlice in the northeast , Klapý in the southeast and Lukohořany in the southwest.

history

Lkáň was first mentioned in a document in 1237 when Wenceslaus I left the place to the Teplá monastery . Later the owners changed frequently. This included the Zajíc von Hasenburg until 1558 , then the Lobkowicz until 1593 , who incorporated it into their Libochovice rule . Between 1594 and 1604 Welkan belonged to Emperor Rudolf II. The next owner was Sigismund Báthory , after whose death the place came to the Sternbergers in 1613 .

During the Thirty Years War, Saxon troops destroyed the village, which was not immediately repopulated and was desolate until at least 1676. The Dietrichsteiner as the owner left the desolate place from 1690 by German from their dominions again colonize. The next owners were the Herbersteiners . After the patrimonial was replaced, Welkan became an independent municipality. From 1869 to 1910 it was part of the Roudnice nad Labem district. In the years 1921 to 1930 Lkáň belonged to the town of Roudnice nad Labem located 22 km southeast . The schoolhouse was built between 1928 and 1929. In 1930 the place had 366 inhabitants.

In 1985 Lkáň was incorporated into Klapý and has been independent again since 1992.

Attractions

At the Podhrázký mill west of the village, the Rosovka is dammed in the Podhrázký pond. The pond is characterized by its variety of water birds and a nightingale colony. In the village there is a small niche chapel built in 1830.
