Býčkovice (German Pitschkowitz ) is a municipality with 298 inhabitants (January 1, 2019) in Okres Litoměřice in the Czech Republic . It is located 7 km northeast of Litoměřice on the Luční Potok (Luhabach) in the right Elbe part of the Bohemian Central Uplands . To the east of the village is the 257.8 m high Vinice (vineyard), from which there is a view of the Elbe valley near Leitmeritz . Býčkovice is one kilometer north of the railway line from Litoměřice to Česká Lípa and has a stop together with Ploskovice .

history

The first mention of Pitschkowitz comes from the end of the 12th century when the owner of the estate, Hroznata , donated the villages of Pitschkowitz and Plahow, which he owned, to the Teplá monastery , which he founded. In 1233 the monastery leased the place to the Teutonic Knights , who acquired the place in 1282 and set up a commander . In 1422 the permanent yard was pledged to Siegmund von Wartenberg on Tetschen by the knights of the order . In 1437 Henik von Waldstein became the owner, and the Wartenberg family followed him again. In 1577 the estate went to a sideline of the family, the Kostomlatsky von Wrzessowitz, who united their property in Pitschkowitz and Ploschkowitz in the 17th century . The Pitschkowitz Fortress can be traced for the last time in 1634. In 1800 the Meierhof was demolished and the construction site was founded in its place .

The new church was built on the village square in 1835, and the previous parish church of St. Gallus from the 15th century in the cemetery was demolished. For the main altar of the church, Grand Duke Leopold II of Tuscany donated a valuable picture from the Florentine painting collection, which Napoléon Bonaparte had brought to Paris and returned to the Uffizi after his exile .
