Operation Tomodachi
Operation Tomodachi ( Japanese ト モ ダ チ 作 戦 , Tomodachi sakusen , "Operation Freund [e]") is the relief operation launched by the United States Armed Forces on March 12, 2011 after the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake .
Most of the United States Forces Japan military bases are involved in Operation Tomodachi.
- Yokota Air Base in Fussa , Tokyo Prefecture
- Kadena Air Base in Kadena and Okinawa , Okinawa Prefecture
- Marine Corps Air Station Futenma in Ginowan , Okinawa Prefecture
- Misawa Air Base in Misawa , Aomori Prefecture
- Naval Air Facility Atsugi in Ayase and Yamato , Kanagawa Prefecture
- Camp Zama in Zama and Sagamihara , Kanagawa Prefecture
In addition to distributing relief supplies were specially equipped Boeing C-135 and unmanned drones of the type Global Hawk used to the consequences of the Fukushima nuclear disaster to better measure and 2011 estimate.
