Ophelia Vilarova (* 1960 in Sofia , Bulgaria ) is a choreographer and former dancer .

Life

Vilarova grew up in the capital of Bulgaria. In 1970 she began her training at the Sofia State Ballet School , which she finished in 1979. She learned classical dance, jazz dance , historical dances, Bulgarian folklore as well as piano and dance pedagogy.

From 1979 to 1986 Ophelia Vilarova was the soloist of the well-known Bulgarian ballet Arabesque in Sofia. In 1986 she came to the GDR , where she worked for the German TV ballet danced. In 1988 she was appointed soloist and after the MDR took over the television ballet, she danced in this ensemble until 2001. After assisting the artistic director Emöke Pöstenyi , she has been a choreographer at the German TV Ballet of the MDR since 2002. In 1997 she was a soloist in Tango - a legend on MDR television - alongside André Höhl .

So far she has created choreographies for Sarah Brightman , Mireille Mathieu , Karel Gott , Heino and other artists in the entertainment industry.
