history

Aleja Piastów street

The village of Opperau was first mentioned in 1201 and at that time was owned by the Leubus Monastery . Until the secularization in Prussia in 1810, it finally belonged to the Wroclaw Cathedral Chapter. Opperau had belonged to Prussia since 1742 and was assigned to the district of Breslau in 1816, to which it belonged until 1945. In the 1930s and 1940s, an extensive housing estate was built east of the village - the population of Opperau rose from 719 in 1933 to 2,798 in 1939. In 1938 a church was built according to the plans of the Opperau architect and builder Josef Tief (* 1904 in Breslau). The settlement of Opperau was expanded after 1945, when the place came to Poland as Oporów . In 1951 Oporów was incorporated into Wroclaw.
