Opuntia darrahiana is a species of plant in the genus Opuntia ( Opuntia ) from the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet honors the English plant collector Charles Darrah from Manchester.

description

Opuntia darrahiana grows shrubby, is richly branched and forms groups with heights of up to 2.5 meters. The green, flat, oval shoot sections are 7 to 8 inches long and 4 to 5 inches wide. The raised areoles are up to 1 centimeter apart. Glochids are absent. The six almost upright thorns are white to grayish white and darker at their tips. They are up to 4.5 inches long. The top two thorns are the longest.

Nothing is known about the flowers and fruits .

Distribution and systematics

Opuntia darrahiana is common in the Turks and Caicos Islands .

It was first described in 1904 by Frédéric Albert Constantin Weber .
