Tephrocactus articulatus is a species of plant in the genus Tephrocactus from the cactus family(Cactaceae).

description

Tephrocactus articulatus grows upright, is loosely branched and reaches heights of 30 to 60 centimeters (rarely up to 120 centimeters). The approximately spherical to short cylindrical or club-shaped shoot segments are up to 10 centimeters long (or longer) and have a diameter of 3 to 5 centimeters. The clear humps are in clearly visible spirals. There are 3 to 40 areoles per shoot segment , which are evenly distributed. Thorns arise either from all areoles, or only from those in the upper half of the segment. They can also be completely absent. The red to slightly purple-black glochids are sunk deep into the shoot segments. They are particularly numerous on the lower areoles. The 1 to 4 (rarely up to 8) pliable spines, which can also be missing, are flattened and sometimes paper-like. They are up to 10 centimeters (rarely up to 15 centimeters) long and 4 millimeters (rarely up to 12 millimeters) wide.

The white to slightly pink flowers are up to 4.5 centimeters long and 3 to 8 centimeters in diameter. Your pericarpel is covered with areoles, but they have no thorns. The spherical to barrel-shaped to inverted conical fruits are up to 3 centimeters long. They are thin-walled, dry and usually do not have any thorns.
